My Volunteering Experience in Sofia

From January 28 to July 28, 2025, I had the opportunity to volunteer in Sofia, Bulgaria as part of an ESC project. These six months were among the most educational and enjoyable periods of my life. The organization owners, Tsvetie and Bozhidar, approached me not just as coordinators but like an older brother and sister. Their sincerity, helpfulness, and support made this experience truly unforgettable. My project focused on promoting environmental awareness, social inclusion, and digital literacy among youth. My responsibilities included organizing my own youth initiatives and workshops, working with young people from rural areas, preparing materials, and sharing these experiences on an online blog. I also implemented my own volunteering project and participated in Bulgarian Youth Forum events. I improved my English and gained basic communication skills in Bulgarian. Working with different age groups enhanced my problem-solving and adaptation skills. We organized various workshops, campaigns, and activities, focusing on photography, cybersecurity, anti-smoking and anti-vaping awareness. I taught digital tools and software engineering, using WordPress and Node.js to strengthen my technical skills. These experiences provided me not only technical knowledge but also empathy, patience, and openness to different cultures. Volunteering in Sofia was a life-enriching experience that left me with unforgettable memories.
